Designed By Sadists For Masochists
The 2006 Alyn Ride Challenge on road route is sick. 385 miles in 5 days. On each of the last 4 days the cumulative climbing exceeds 4,000 feet. With an average of 77 miles a day and one day of 100 miles (all in the heat of the Negev), this is a VERY serious ride.
Time to start kicking up the training.

Yippeee! May the pain we endure on the climbs be a "kappara for alla yiddishe kinder". Can't tell though from the website who is signed up for which ride.
Thanks for the ride advice but I'm looking local centuries in miles. The Monsey area is blessed with great biking - 45 mile bear mtn loop, 55 mile west point loop, 58 mile Harriman/Sterling Forest loop - all from my front door with hardly a traffic light. I can carry enough water and snacks to do this unsupported unless it's obscenely hot. So it doesn't make sense for me to drive somewhere and lose a whole family day for a metric century.

Come on down (or up, in this case) and join us. We have an informal group of 3-7 guys (2 of us were on Alyn last year, another 2 are thinking of joining this year) that ride together ever couple of Sundays - the three W's permitting (wives, work, and weather). It usually starts real early ~6:30am so you'll have to find a vatikin minyan or daven afterwards. We ride 30-50 miles together and then everyone does there own thing. Let me know what Sunday you want and I'll find out if something is happening.
